Philosophical Statement

Excellent, artistic image-making demands good communication. Always. No exceptions.

First and foremost, the photographer you want MUST be able to communicate, and do so in many languages, not only the visual. Mr. File has great experience in various forms of communication, and has demonstrated his abilities: visual, verbal, written; representational and presentational; direct and symbolic; intellectual and emotional.

Strong, powerful images require the same sensitivity as delicate, subtle ones, and to capture or create them depends upon the sensitivity and skill of the photographer. Mr. File has developed his sensitivities and skills through study and experience. He has taught classes and seminars in design, photography, art history, theatre, painting, and more. He has photographed portraits, business portraits, landscapes, architecture, boudoir and fine art figure studies, and more.

Photography is, by definition, capturing -or creating- a moment in time. It is imperative to be ‘in the moment’.   While in that moment, the photographer must be aware of what has happened as well as what is likely to happen, and yet not have to battle the intellect in making technical judgments while intuitively exploring the subject; the artist must be prepared to take advantage of the moments as they come.
